Audrey & Tamar
An ongoing exploration, filmed one day a year starting in 2024. The project was born out of workshops divised and facilitated by artist Anton Mirto around the themes of protection, vulnerability and trust - how the armoured self can affect our relationship to ourselves and others. Anton invited me to film the sessions. Octogenarians Audrey and Tamar met as participants. Their connection had a special quality which was beautiful to witness for Anton seeing them in the space and for me to see through the camera. Opening up a longer term collaboration with Audrey and Tamar was made possible with support from The Muse Gallery.
Lifescape
In the summer of 2024 I filmed across various landscapes in Exmoor and West Somerset with Alice Ladenburg on her piece of work titled LIFESCAPE which was supported by the Mondriann Fund and exhibited at East Quay. The exhibition combines LiDAR scanning technology by Jens Van Der Zee and filmed footage of the non-human world. Blending art and science, the show aims to deepen our understanding of our shared planet and to imagine possible futures at this time of ecological uncertainty.
Animated with Ollie Palmer the LiDAR images allow the viewer to soar over, under and within landscapes. To complement their vast, spectral quality, Alice and I focused on filming details in the landscapes. We used old macro lenses. The goal was to create intimate, textural perspectives, to evoke our sensorial conection to the non-human world. An immersive soundscape was design by Leo Cauteruccio.
